The Story of O L I V
Founded in 2020 by us Oliver and Olivia, O L I V is a small home grown business. We hand pour soy wax Candles, Wax melts and Reed diffusers from our shop and workshop in Lacock, Wiltshire.
O L I V started off as a cottage industry built from our kitchen table, alongside our full time jobs. The name O L I V, if not self-explanatory, is a combination of both mine and Oliver’s name. It’s a token of gratitude for everything that we do for each other and the joint effort we put in to make O L I V work. Back in November 2020 when the world was at a state of uncertainty, I found comfort in making candles. It started off as nothing more than a hobby, home-made Christmas gifts for my family and friends so, what came to be I could never have imagined.
In 2021 we became apart of small independent markets all around the county attending them with our candle stall each month. Over time we grew, building up loyal customers and frequent shoppers. We also began to stock our products in a variety of small independent shops around Wiltshire. Every part of the process is carried out by us, from pouring to packaging and everything in between we strive towards the uniqueness of each product adding a personal touch as we go.
I’ve always had a passion for design and home comforts which is what lead me to work in the Interior Design industry prior to O L I V. To me a home is a place of comfort, a place where you feel you belong and are at a state of calm. All our products are designed with this in mind and successfully add both style and tranquillity to your space. Oliver’s a man of many talents and one thing he specialises in is Carpentry. With his skills and my eye for design we successfully designed and built our first O L I V store in 2022!
Today we run O L I V from our workshop and store in Lacock, Wiltshire where downstairs we sell our complete range of products, alongside homewares and gifts, sourced from local independent UK based companies (most of who we met at out markets). And upstairs in the workshop, we pour hundreds of candles each day supplying to local shops, online and of course for stocking our shop.
We are proud to do our part for the environment, starting with our candles. Each are made using a sustainably sourced and vegan Soy Wax. They give a clean burn with little to no toxins released meaning; less harm is caused on the environment. Our packaging and even our products are recyclable, our amber glasses make for the perfect storage jar once they’ve been used.
